Prep time: 20-25 minutes
Cooking time- 10-15 minutes.
Serves- 3-4 people.
Method:
Begin by boiling 1/4th cup of water in a pan. Now add one cup of powdered jaggery to it and bring this mixture to a boil and switch off the flame. Allow this to cool down for a while. Now heat another pan, add about ¼ to ½ spoon of ghee and add a cup (approx. 200 gms) of grated coconut to it. Fry the coconut till its moisture is lost. Gently add the jaggery syrup with the help of a sieve to this grated coconut, and gently cook until the mixture is combined well. You can add 1/4th spoon of cardamom powder, and mix it in to enhance the flavor and fragrance of this dessert. Switch the flame off and set this aside till it cools down completely. Knead gently, pinch into balls of your preferred size and serve.
As an option- You may coarsely grind some dry fruits and nuts, fry them in ghee and also mix it in before you make the balls. This will add to the crunch and richness of the dessert.
The coconut jaggery balls are ready.
Ingredients:
Water- ¼ cup.
Ghee- about ¼ to ½ teaspoon.
Jaggery powder- 1 cup.
Grated coconut- 200 gms
Cardamom powder- ¼ spoon.
Tip- Keep a watch over the jaggery syrup. Let it not be too watery or too thick as it will affect both the taste and consistency of the sweet ultimately.
